iButtonLink Announces Data Center Environmental Monitoring Solution Based on IBM Measurement and Management Technology
Whitewater, Wisconsin, June 16th, 2015 – iButtonLink (www.ibuttonlink.com) today announced the release of its newest product solution, a data center environmental monitoring system that incorporates IBM Measurement and Management Technologies (MMT) software.
IBM Research brings years of experience in data center environmental monitoring. The IBM technology is based on computational fluid dynamics providing innovative visualization using fewer sensors, demonstrating real-time corrosion sensing, and deploying low-power wireless technology. The combination of IBM Research innovation and iButtonLink sensor expertise yields a robust data center environmental monitoring solution that pushes the boundaries of science, technology, and business to make the world work better.
iButtonLink has developed customized sensor solutions since 2002 and has worked with IBM Research since 2008 on collaborative initiatives with a common goal: progress. iButtonLink and IBM work together to develop data center and corrosion monitoring solutions—as well as IBM® Low-Power Mote Technology-based solutions—to be manufactured by iButtonLink.
The MMT software at the core of this innovation, was developed by IBM Research and licensed to iButtonLink. The tool produces near real-time thermal mapping of data center space including hot spots, airflow, and floor to ceiling analyses of environmental data. The solution, using iButtonLink sensors and IBM MMT software, is operating in over four million square feet of IBM data center space, helping reduce overall data center energy costs by as much as 12%1 and increase uptime. iButtonLink sensors and the full environmental monitoring solution have been in operation in IBM data centers since 2008.
